Oilfeld Contract Location/One-Call Requests:

Red-Alta provides locating services to some of Canada’s major oilfield, telecommunications and power facility companies. With the use of our state of the art locate management system; Red-Alta manages all of our clients locating requirements throughout our contract areas. Our locators have experience and training in locating all types of facilities in all types of environments.

Oilfield:

Red-Alta will locate and map pipeline right of ways, satellites, well sites, battery sites and seismic projects. We perform extensive searches in and around all sites. Our crews are equipped with computers to search EUB records and printers to provide clients with drawings, ground disturbance forms and field invoices on site. We provide, on site, a computer generated plan of the buried facilities in the work area.

Our crews are trained with the following equipment: Fuji PL801, PL960, Metrotech (610, 810, 850, 960, 9860), Radio Detection/Trackerball Locator, Shealth Fault Finder, Subsite Locators, GPS for sub-meter accuracy, Sondes (locating of non metallic pipes) and Radio Detection PCM locators (depth of cover-pipeline current).

Private Facility Locating:

Private utilities are not located through the free provincial one call center process. Private utilities are owned and maintained by home/property owners and can include power, phone and gas lines on private property. See below for what is located through a one-call type contract, anything else must be located as a private locate and you can call in to Red-Alta to receive a quote to provide a private utility locate service.

What is covered through the provincial one-call process:

• Urban Phone/Power Locates: One-call process locates lines going through the property and all the ‘drops’ (the line from a pedestal or junction box to the first building or ‘NID’ on the building) as they affect the work area.
• Urban Power Locate: One-call process locates all power lines going through the property and the service line from the power facility to the power meter on the building. We also locate street light cable going through the property if it affects the work area.
• Urban Water: One-call process locates the waterline from the main to the shutoff valve 5-10 feet within the property.
• Rural Phone Locate: One-call process locates phone lines going along the road allowance and the ‘drops’ to the ‘NIDS’ on a building as they affect the work area.
• Rural Power Locate: One-call process locates all power lines from the power facility to the power meter as they affect the work area.
• Rural Gas Locate: One-call process locates from the distribution line to the meter.
